JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) – Col. Trent Kelly will soon be promoted to brigadier general in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
In a news release on Friday, December 15, Major General Janson Boyles, the adjutant general of Mississippi, announced the promotion.
Kelly, 51, currently represents Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The promotion ceremony will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Mississippi National Guard Joint Force Headquarters in Jackson.
The Saltillo native has served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for more than 32 years.
Earlier this year, Kelly became eligible for the promotion.
"I am humbled to accept this promotion and honored to serve and represent our state and nation," Kelly tweeted.
