Joe Dillon, the city's spokesman, said officers were called just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of Forest Boulevard.
Police said there were reports of shots fired into an apartment but nobody was hurt.
Less than an hour later, an unknown person shot someone standing outside of a home in the 800 block of Waterworks Road. Police said the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in that shooting.
“These incidents occurred within an hour of each other,” Police Chief Fred Shelton said.
“It is still early in the investigation, but we don’t believe the incidents are random," he added. "We are also investigating if both are related incidents. We ask for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151."
