Columbus, Tupelo send firefighters to East Coast

Two local fire departments are sending people to help those on the East Coast deal with the effects of Hurricane Florence.

(WTVA) - Two local fire departments are sending people to help those on the East Coast deal with the effects of Hurricane Florence.

Columbus is sending six of its Swift Water Rescue Team to assist with expected flooding in Virginia.

Tupelo is sending three men and two boats to Virginia for possible rescues as well.

Florence will likely make landfall near the end of the week, but heavy rain is expected before the eye of the storm makes landfall.
