(WTVA) - A man and woman are accused of abusing an 8-week-old infant.
Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar confirmed Jimmy Senter and Courtney Burcham, both of Booneville, face felony child abuse charges.
Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, contacted the sheriff’s department on Oct. 17.
The infant had been admitted for injuries possibly the result of abuse. The child is receiving treatment.
The investigation led deputies to Senter and Burcham, the sheriff said.
Senter is currently on parole. According to the sheriff, Senter served time in prison for a shooting that happened in 2014.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on him to remain in custody.
