JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Chickasaw County man has lost his attempt to have his aggravated assault conviction overturned on appeal.
Jeffrey Horn 52, is serving a 12 year sentence for shooting a woman he was dating at the time in the leg in 2015.
Deputies say Horn was intoxicated at the time of the shooting, but Horn claims he acted in self defense.
He was found guilty by a jury during a trial in 2017.
Horn appealled claiming one member of the jury should have been removed because they were sleeping during testimony.
He also claimed the judge made errors related to jury instructions and whether another juror should have been removed because of a working relationship between the victim and the juror's wife.
The Mississippi Court of Appeals denied the claims Tuesday.
