Chickasaw deputies: Man busted for cocaine, $5K

An Okolona man has been arrested after a K9 unit sniffed out drugs and thousands of dollars at a traffic stop, the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office said.

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - An Okolona man has been arrested after a K9 unit sniffed out drugs and thousands of dollars at a traffic stop, the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Office said.

On Saturday, deputies noticed Marlon Ford, 45, attempt to avoid a safety checkpoint on County Road 140 by trying to back up, according to Chief Investigator Keith Robertson. Deputies were able to pull Ford over and arrest him for careless driving. 

A K9 unit assisted deputies and sniffed out cocaine and over $5,000 from Ford's vehicle, Robertson said. 

Ford has been arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and careless driving.
