UNION COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating check washing in the entire county.
A woman called the office and said someone stole her checks out of her mailbox.
Law enforcement said Victoria Goodson and Michael Lamacchia are responsible. Last night, officers searched a home in Dumas and recovered several checks and credit cards. Both opened about 4 bank accounts to deposit thousands of dollars off the accounts.
A judge didn’t set a bond, but the sheriff said investigators will likely charge them with possession of meth and multiple counts of identity theft.
According to the sheriff, they’ve hit about 12 victims in Union County, New Albany and Booneville. The Federal Reserve System is in on the investigation.
