CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WTVA) - People living at Oakwood Apartments got their power back Thursday after having live four days in the dark. The apartment's circuit breaker was damaged during Sunday night's storm.
Donna Whaley lives at Oakwood with her granddaughter. Whaley said her grandchild eats from a feeding tube that needs be to connected to electricity in order for it to work.
She and other residents said it took the apartment owners four days to send an electrician to fix the circuit breaker.
“They don’t know what’s going on. If these people are on oxygen or what. Instead of worrying about getting stores and stuff back on, they should’ve got these problems fixed first,” she said.
Whaley said family members put their money together to get her grand-baby a motel room for a couple of days. Resident, Stephanie Prescott said they only had two options; spend their last bit of money or live without power.
Whaley’s granddaughter was able to return home today. Whaley said she didn’t know what she was going to do if they didn’t fix the breaker Thursday afternoon.
