JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising consumers not to eat romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas, California.
This includes all types of romaine, from whole heads to hearts of romaine, to pre-made packages and salad mixes.
Even if your romaine does not have a harvest location shown, the CDC recommends steering clear.
The safety alert follows a multi-state E. coli outbreak.
At least 40 people in 16 states have been infected from the contaminated lettuce, including 28 hospitalizations.
The warning comes after a similar outbreak around Thanksgiving time last year.
