VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) - Verona police are investigating a shooting on Palmetto Road last week.

The manager of Jerry's Rebuilders on Palmetto Road, Dewayne Bailey, said he and the six others in the shop ducked for cover when they heard gunshots around 12 p.m. on May 28.

According to Bailey, shots were fired toward a car driving by the shop.

Bailey thinks the shots came from behind a tree that is across the road from Jerry's Rebuilders.

Luckily, nobody at Jerry's was harmed, but Bailey said the two bullet holes in his building are from those shots.

Bailey said two cars in the parking lot were damaged from the stray bullets as well.

According to Verona Interim Police Chief Johnny Patterson, the bullet casings collecting from the scene show two different guns were used.

Patterson said it is likely there was more than one shooter.

The police chief said the juvenile passenger in the vehicle driving by was hit by a bullet right above his lip.

Patterson said the juvenile is OK and recovering.

According to Bailey, the people that were at Jerry's Rebuilders at the time are blessed to be alive.
