JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A prominent Mississippi business leader says the decision to change the state’s flag has removed a significant impediment to economic development in Mississippi.
Mississippi lawmakers voted last year to retire a Confederate-themed flag state as part of the national reckoning over racial injustice.
The current state economic council chair, Anthony Wilson, said the new flag will change perceptions of Mississippi across the world.
The council held its annual meeting Wednesday, and the new flag was prominently displayed.
Wilson said he is filled with pride when he sees the new flag flying across Mississippi.
