COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - A boat captain from Alabama died Monday while onboard his tug boat on the Tombigbee River.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said Huey Freil, 47, of Dora, Alabama, died Monday afternoon.
The coroner said Freil ended his day watch at noon and went to sleep in his bedroom.
Just after 4 p.m., Freil told the pilot on duty to call for an ambulance.
He then became unresponsive, Merchant said.
An ambulance arrived, but medics were unable to revive him.
The coroner said Freil had reportedly not been feeling well the past few days and planned to leave the boat Tuesday to seek medical attention.
