BIG CREEK, Miss. (WTVA) - A group of people in Calhoun County says their neighborhood has been underwater for months.
Carolyn Williams has lived on County Road 312 for more than 20 years.
She fought back tears Friday as she talked about the damage the flooding is leaving behind.
Friday’s flooding is the worst she’s seen since she moved to the county road, she said.
Williams’ longtime neighbor, Melinda Armstrong, said she hasn’t been able to drive onto Old Highway 8 for more than three months.
“We have complained as mothers. We have complained as residents on this road. We have complained as citizens of Calhoun County. Nobody is moving,” Armstrong said.
Residents are calling on county leaders to fix the roads.
“We need some help. We need somebody to do what needs to be done," Armstrong added.
Big Creek [the creek] is just west of County Road 312.
