JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Trump won their respective presidential party primaries on Tuesday.
Biden repeated what he did in Alabama and South Carolina by getting strong turnout from black voters to cruise to victory over Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary.

President Trump trounced his two GOP challengers in Mississippi.
In other primaries, Mike Espy claimed the Democratic nomination in the U.S. Senate race setting up a 2018 rematch with Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith in November.
Democratic U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson won his party's primary easily over his lone opponent in the Second Congressional District. A runoff will be held March 31 to determine his Republican opponent.
Republican U.S. Representative Michael Guest did the same to his opponent in his party's primary for the Third Congressional District. He will face Democrat Dorothy Benford in November after she won her party's primary.
