IUKA, Miss. (WTVA) - The Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam.
The scammers, posing as representatives for companies such as Amazon and Apple, seek money to "give to the sheriff's office and police departments.”
From sheriff’s office:
"The Tishomingo County Sheriff's Office DOES NOT solicit funds from individuals, nor have companies contact citizens via phone and ask for same. We want our citizens to be aware of this scam and do not offer any funds of your to them.
Also, do not give them any personal information. We have been told that these phone numbers are random numbers."
Anyone who receives a similar call is asked to call the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
