ALICEVILLE, Ala. (WTVA) - Crews managed to remove the barge that struck the Tom Bevill spillway more than a week ago.
As of Monday morning, all spillway gates are working.
The barge broke free from its mooring upriver near Columbus, Mississippi, and drifted downriver to the spillway near Aliceville, Alabama.
The impact blocked a gate at the spillway for a week.
A similar situation happened a few days prior at the Stennis Lock & Dam in Columbus, Mississippi.
However, the barge that struck the Stennis spillway sank upon impact and remains underwater. It's unclear when the removal will take place.
