JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The state auditor's office announced the arrest of Alcorn County Tax Collector Larry Ross for allegedly embezzling money from the county.
According to Auditor Shad White, a grand jury indicted Ross for two counts of embezzlement and one count of making a fraudulent statement.

Ross surrendered himself at the Alcorn County jail on Monday.
Ross is accused of taking cash he obtained from recycling unused vehicle license tags, taking cash from fees collected by his office, and creating and signing fraudulent bills of sale as tax collector.
From March 2012 through March 2020, Ross allegedly embezzled more than $2,500 from the county.
As a result of him allegedly waiving late penalties, investigators say Alcorn County lost almost $50,000.
He faces time in prison and fines if convicted.
