TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Investigators charged a Baldwyn woman with setting fire to a wooden bridge in Lee County.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, investigators charged Katelyn Hollis, 26, with felony malicious mischief.
“While at the bridge she committed a malicious act that resulted in the bridge catching fire,” the sheriff’s department stated Monday. “We don’t believe at this time that her intent was solely to burn the bridge but her malicious actions caused this fire.”
The bridge, named Barnett Bridge, is located on County Road 1213 in the Pratts community.
Firefighters responded to the fire on the morning of Sept. 22.
They extinguished the fire before the fire destroyed the bridge. However, the bridge did sustain damage and is closed to the public at this time.
