A fifth indictment has been handed down into the misuse of public funds in the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - A fifth indictment has been handed down into the misuse of public funds in the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department.

According to the Starkville Daily News, an Oktibbeha County grand jury indicted Anthony Stevenson on a single count of conspiracy to defraud the state.

The indictment accuses him of entering into an agreement or conspiracy with former Parks director Herman Peters to defraud the city of Starkville by obtaining wages based on false claims, the newspaper reports.

Stevenson worked as a contractor for the department.
