ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - The City of Aberdeen has joined forces with several churches and a local medical clinic to improve vaccine availability.
Mayor Charles Scott, along with Eunice Crump of the Aberdeen Health Clinic, wants to ensure everyone who wants a vaccine in Aberdeen can get one.
She is helping set up vaccination sites where residents will not need appointments.
One site will be on May 1 at the Parks and Recreation building from 1-5 p.m. A second site will be the same day at the Daniel Baptist Church from 10-1 p.m. A third site will be on May 4 at the Park and Recreation building from 1-4 p.m.
Even with the easy access to vaccines, not everyone is gung-ho about getting the vaccine.
Ocianna Kilburn said the vaccine needs to be researched more in order for her to trust it.
Despite the vaccine hesitancy, Scott is urging everyone to get the shot.
"If we can go and get our people vaccinated, and when I say ‘our people’ I mean everyone, "he said. “And when we get everyone vaccinated, we can come out and go to work; we can come out and enjoy ourselves."
Crump said her clinic is providing vaccines via appointment.
