COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - The Army Center for Aviation Excellence in Fort Rucker, Alabama, is welcoming a new helicopter for pilot training.
The helicopter was delivered from the Airbus facility in Lowndes County.
The helicopter is the 200th UH-72A Lakota that Airbus has delivered to the U.S. Army for training operations.
Lakota helicopters are becoming the primary helicopters the Army uses to train all pilots.
Lt. Col. William Cabaniss said the new aircraft will help the Army in several ways.
Law enforcement will also use the helicopters to support missions as well as the National Guard during disasters like tornados or floods.
Many Airbus employees and upper management gathered at the Airbus facility to celebrate the delivery of the helicopter.
