STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - The Starkville Pride organization is planning to file a lawsuit against the City of Starkville, according to the Starkville Daily News.
This comes after the Starkville Board of Aldermen voted to deny its permit request for a pride parade in a 4-3 vote.
The paper reports that Roberta Kaplan of Kaplan & Company, LLP will represent Starkville Pride organizer Bailey McDaniel and the group after being notified by the Campaign For Southern Equality.
Kaplan has previously dealt with litigation issues involving LGBTQ rights in Mississippi. She told the Starkville Daily News that from what she's gathered the city has denied the group of its rights and she thinks she has a strong case.
According to the Starkville Daily News, Kaplan intends to be prompt with the lawsuit.
