Tupelo, Lee County hold drug take-back day early

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – National Prescription Drug Take-back Day is Saturday, but two law enforcement agencies participated Friday.

The Tupelo Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department held their “take-back” days early.

The community was allowed to drop off their expired over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Not only are residents disposing of their medication but plastic bottle donations were also accepted to aid Thomas Street Elementary to help build recycled benches.

More law enforcement agencies will hold their “take-back” days Saturday.

Fulton Police Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Walmart

West Point Police Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Save-A-Lot grocery store

Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Sheriff’s office in Pittsboro

Oxford Police Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Fred’s pharmacy

Starkville Police Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Vowell’s Supermarket

Ole Miss Police Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Ole Miss Welcome Center

Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department – Saturday, October 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Sheriff’s department in Iuka
