TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi’s Second Amendment Weekend holiday begins Friday at midnight.
It will end at midnight on Sunday.
This means sales tax is not due during the holiday on the sale of firearms, ammunition and certain hunting supplies.
Scruggs Farm, Lawn & Garden manager says each year the Sales tax weekend is successful.
"Every year it seems to grow a little more every year we always have a tremendous turn out starting from Friday morning when we open to Sunday night when we close," said Jason Jagger.
“Hunting Supplies” are the following items when used for hunting: archery equipment, firearm and archery cases, firearm and archery accessories, hearing protection, holsters, belts, and slings.
The sale of general hunting supplies is not exempt. Hunting supplies do not include animals used for hunting.
The tax holiday does not apply to sales of any other items not defined as firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies.
