TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Hundreds of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church members gathered to celebrate their ground-breaking ceremony Sunday.
The church is building a new children's center and worship facility worth $2.9 million.
The new children's center will include an indoor playground, which some of the children say they are excited about.
"I'm definitely excited because if it's hot outside, you don’t have to go outside and get sweaty," said Meghan.
"If it's raining outside, I can just go inside and play on the playground," explained Bristol.
Pastor Terry Pierce says he hopes to have the church completed by the middle of 2019.
