Two Columbus women face embezzlement charges in unrelated cases.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Two Columbus women face embezzlement charges in unrelated cases.

Tonya Holmes, 42, of Columbus, was arrested on Jan. 2 and charged with embezzlement.

Police say she is accused of cashing more than one check that was not made out to her.

Police are not identifying the affected business.

In a separate case, Lauren Duke, 37, of Columbus, was arrested on Dec. 27 and charged with embezzlement under contract.

She is accused of failing to make payments on a couch and bed rented from a local business.

Police are not identifying the business.

According to police reports, the couch was valued at $1,044, and the bed was valued at $645.

Both women have been released on bail.
