STAPLETON, Ala. (AP) — Two people are reported dead after a small airplane crashed near the coast in south Alabama.
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office posted on social media that an aircraft went down Tuesday night in a rural area in Stapleton.
News outlets report that it took crews a couple hours to reach the crash site, and that two people died.
A flight tracking website shows the airplane took off from Jack Edwards National Airport in Gulf Shores minutes before it went down in a wooded area.
The plane had flown to the coast from the airport in Muscle Shoals on Sunday.
