Two state prison escapees are now in custody days after escape

Two prison escapees with local ties are back behind bars after they disappeared from a state prison near Jackson.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Two prison escapees with local ties are in custody after they disappeared from a state prison near Jackson.

The sheriff's department confirmed both Jonathan Blankenship, 31, and Christopher Benson High, 28, were taken to the Lauderdale County jail.

Both were captured in Meridian, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections. 

The men escaped from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility on Friday. An investigation is underway into their escape. 

Blankenship was serving time after being convicted in Alcorn County. The same goes for High with his convictions in Carroll County.
