COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Michael Devaughn pleaded guilty to killing and raping two women on Labor Day in 1990.
He made the plea Tuesday afternoon in Lowndes County Circuit Court.


The victims: Betty Jones, 65, and Kathryn Crigler, 81.

He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The crime happened on Sept. 3, 1990, at the home of Kathryn Crigler in Starkville.
He was accused of entering the home and killing Betty Jones, as well as sexually assaulting Crigler.
Crigler later died.
Starkville police arrested Devaughn in October 2018 after extensive DNA testing.
