TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - For the past 17 years, the Mississippi Trailblazers Award Ceremony has been held to recognize individuals for their contributions to diversity, positive multicultural exchanges and the positive light to politics and race relations.
James Hull is the event's organizer.
“It’s important because diversity is important," he said. "I mean just think about how divided the country is right now, and we emphasize these differences and pull each other apart. Differences should be something that’s good and pulls us together rather than pull us apart."
Mississippi's cultural ambassador Ora Reed was the special guest entertainer.
Comic Michael Collier was the ceremony's guest host.
