COLDWATER, Miss. (AP) - A Humane Society director says 176 dogs have been removed from a breeding operation in north Mississippi.
Investigators received a tip that the animals were being kept in terrible conditions.
The Tate County Sheriff’s Department carried out a search warrant Monday at a home in Coldwater. The town is about 35 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee.
The Humane Society director in nearby Tunica County, Sandy Williams, says she received a tip that dogs were being neglected at the home.
She says more than 100 were found in kennels stacked ceiling-high in a small building that had a stench of urine and feces.
