KUWAIT (WTVA) - The 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team has assumed responsibility of Operation Spartan Shield (OSS) in the Middle East.

The 155th takes over the role recently held by the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division.

The United States military says this type of process is meant to insure a smooth transition between units, so the OSS mission can continue seamlessly.

When the 155th arrived in the Middle East, the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division passed on their best practices and tactics, techniques and procedures to the 155th.

"Nearly every soldier in each unit had a counterpart to share information and insure the mission would continue successfully," stated Sgt. Brittany Johnson.

The units will essentially swap places as the Fort Bliss-based 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division will move back to El Paso.

Once complete, the relieving unit has the responsibility of the mission and the requirements that come with it.

The 155th is based in Tupelo.
