COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Police arrested one person and are looking for two more people in connection to a weekend shooting in Columbus.
The shooting happened near the 1900 block of 8th Avenue North late Saturday afternoon. Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton said the shooting victim was found there and transported to the hospital.
On Monday, Shelton confirmed Roy Wallace Jr. Is being held in jail without bond. Police charged him with aggravated assault. Police arrested him late Saturday night.
Police also issued arrest warrants for 25-year-old Tommie Flowers III, of Crawford and 24-year-old Kenny Armistad of Columbus. Both are wanted for aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Police also responded that evening to a second shooting. They found this shooting victim on 22nd Street near Bell Avenue.
Shelton said Monday morning he does not believe the two shootings are related.
