ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - One person has been arrested for a Thursday night armed robbery in Aberdeen.

Acting Aberdeen Police Chief Quinell Shumpert says the incident happened sometime near 8 p.m. at a barbershop on Hardy Street.

He said two men walked into the barbershop with guns and demanded money from the shop’s owner.

The owner told WTVA he knows the robbers and thought the incident was a joke at first.

When the shop’s owner handed over money, a robber hit the owner with a gun.

The owner was taken to a hospital and later released.

Shumpert says Anthony Strong, 19, was arrested.

They are looking for another suspect. However, Shumpert did not want to identify that person at this time.
