TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- In one week, WTVA will kickoff the 2020 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.
One lucky person will win a luxury, custom built home, but thousands of you will help support the life saving mission of St. Jude: finding cures, saving lives.
"I usually like the subject of math," Carson said.
"Yeah, like addition?" asked the reporter.
"And subtraction," Carson said.
At age 7, Carson was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), an aggressive form of blood cancer.
He didn't respond well to treatment at his local hospital so his family turned to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"I like St. Jude a lot. Well, St. Jude is a very special place. It's a home for all these kids and get all these sicknesses. Cancer, leukemia, AML," Carson said.
So far, Carson has undergone chemo and several bone marrow transplants, but he still has a long road ahead. And he has something to say.
"I would say to cancer, 'Go away and never bother anybody ever again,'" Carson said.
Carson said he misses his dog and extended family back home, but he is staying positive.
"The first thing I'm gonna do when I beat cancer. I don't really know yet because I haven't done that yet. And I'm gonna think of it pretty soon because I'm pretty soon gonna beat cancer. Never lose hope and it will happen," Carson said.
Tickets for the St. Jude Dream Home will be available on Thursday, June 11.
This year we are trying to raise more than a million dollars for St. Jude so there are 11,000 tickets up for grabs.
