BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Many high school dropouts want to complete their education and build a better future.
Northeast Mississippi Community College's (NEMCC) MiBest program allows people to earn their GEDs while also earning job certifications or college credits.
The grant also helps pay for students’ tuition, iPads and transportation.
Student Crystal Bullard said the program gave her a reason to live after she tried to commit suicide several times.
"So for me to get my G.E.D. It was like a little ray of hope. You know, in that moment I felt joy. I was actually proud of myself. I did something. I accomplished something in my own,” she said.
The program also offers to tutor and helps students take their ACTs.
