CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) - The superintendent of the Corinth School District says 131 students are being quarantined.
Since the school district returned to campus on July 27, nine individuals have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Seven high school students have tested positive. The school district reported one positive case at the middle school. One elementary school employee tested positive.
According to Superintendent Lee Childress, the 131 students under quarantine came in contact with the nine individuals who tested positive.
Neighboring Alcorn School District began its staggered-return on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Alcorn School District reported two Biggersville High School students tested positive. However, neither student has attended school so far. As a result, five students are being quarantined.
On Friday, the Alcorn School District reported one Kossuth High School student tested positive. The student has not attended school so far.
One Kossuth Elementary School employee also tested positive.
