COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - Supervisors in Lowndes County are requesting the governor add Lowndes County to the state's list of counties in which face coverings are required.
The Board of Supervisors discussed the matter Monday morning.
Supervisor Leroy Brooks says the vote is a move in the right direction.
The Board hopes to receive the governor's answer in the next few days.
Mississippi does not currently have a state-wide mask requirement.
However, 29 counties have been ordered by the governor to follow stricter safety measures, including the use of face coverings in public and limiting social gatherings. This includes Calhoun, Grenada, Montgomery, Winston and Yalobusha counties.
