JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - There is a confirmed case of the coronavirus in Tippah County.
Liz Sharlot, a spokesperson for the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), confirmed the case Thursday afternoon.
The Tippah County Hospital reported its first positive coronavirus test to the MSDH, the hospital announced on Facebook Thursday afternoon.
According to the hospital, the patient was transferred to another facility for treatment. The hospital did not identify the facility and provided no other information.
However, Sharlot would not confirm if the case she confirmed and the case the hospital reported is the same individual.
The hospital did announce it closed its wellness center, and all visitors to the hospital are being screened. Only one visitor is allowed per patient.
This brings the state's total cases of the coronavirus to at least 52.
