STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA)—Starkville city leaders want to keep residents healthy while they are out in public.
Mayor Lynn Spruill said aldermen will discuss purchasing touchless items for restrooms in city parks and public buildings.
She said the touchless items will be faucets, toilets and lights.
The amenities will be purchased with funds from the CARES Act.
Spruill said this idea was sparked by the coronavirus pandemic, but it could also help cut energy costs.
“It’s in order to do as much as we can to make it as safe as possible and to keep those kinds of things from being an unnecessary contamination area,” she said.
The Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday night at their regular meeting.
