STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Residents at nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Starkville received their second doses of the coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday.

One of those facilities was Beehive Homes, where a handful of residents received doses of the Moderna vaccine.

Wayne Hindman is one of the residents at Beehive Homes.

He said receiving the vaccine will be life-changing. 

“It means everything,” he said.

Hindman has lived at the assisted living facility for almost a year.

He received his second dose of the coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday afternoon.

The resident explained the first shot only gave him a sore arm -- similar to many others who received the vaccine. He believes the second one will not be much different.

He along with nine other residents at Beehive Homes received Moderna vaccines from CVS pharmacists.

Joann Clark is the administrator at Beehive Homes in Starkville.

She hopes this vaccine will be the answer many residents are looking for.

“I think and I pray that this is the beginning to an end of a very very long, horrible, horrific year,” she said.

Clark believes this step against the virus could give residents a chance to see family and be involved in normal activities again.

But before all that, her biggest concern is keeping the residents safe.

“To me this means hope... hope we can get on to some normalcy,” said the administrator.

According to Hindman, some of those normal activities include going to sporting events and shopping at Walmart.

However, whatever the action is, he's ready to get his freedom back.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do when they turn me loose," chuckled Hindman.

This was the second clinic Beehive Homes held for residents.

The assisted living facility will also hold a third and final clinic on March 2nd.
