STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Oktibbeha County supervisors signed a local declaration of emergency as the coronavirus threat rises in Mississippi.
The Board of Supervisors signed the declaration at its meeting Monday night, according to the Starkville Daily News.
As of Tuesday morning, the Mississippi State Department of Health has reported 21 cases in the state.
There are no confirmed cases in Oktibbeha County.

Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency Director Kristen Campanella said the declaration can help purchase supplies. However, she said finding supplies is difficult at the current time due to higher demand.

Gov. Tate Reeves declared a state of emergency Saturday. He encouraged schools to stay closed, people to work from home and churches not to have Sunday services.
President Donald Trump declared a national emergency last week.
