OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) — A student at Okolona High School tested positive for the coronavirus, and the school district said it acted quickly.
Superintendent Chad Spence said someone notified the school district about the case Wednesday night.
Spence said the school's protocol is to trace the people the student came in contact with throughout the day.
He added the student left the building Wednesday about 10 a.m.
The superintendent said that after an investigation, the district found four staff members and three students came in contact with the infected student and are now under quarantine for 14 days.
He says they were all in a science class.
According to the superintendent, the school is cleaned after each class period.
He said the infected student did not ride a bus but went home in a car.
Classes will continue as normal at the high school.
