TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) in Tupelo received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday.
Members of the National Guard helped escort the box containing the vaccine, and doctors and hospital leadership escorted the box inside the hospital.

The hospital received 1,930 doses Tuesday with more shipments coming in the weeks and months to follow.
Frontline workers at the hospital are a top priority to receive the initial vaccinations.
Director of Pharmacy Wes Pitts said he's eager to take the vaccine and encourages others to as well.
He expects the hospital to receive the next round of vaccines sometime next week.
