TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — The coronavirus prompted North Mississippi Medical Center to change its policy on visitors seeing patients.
The hospital in Tupelo started Sunday at 5 p.m. only allowing one visitor at a time to see a patient.
"Our strong preference is to have one designated family member or caregiver per patient during their hospital stay in order to limit the number of visitors hospital-wide," the hospital said in a statement.
It also wants children under 14 and those with a fever, cough or shortness of breath to not visit patients.
The new visitation policy also applies to NMMC hospitals in Amory, Eupora, Hamilton, Alabama, Iuka, Pontotoc and West Point.
