TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- The NMMC Wellness Centers are reopening their doors to the public on Monday. Most gyms opened a few weeks ago. The wellness center is a medical approved facility, which is why workers took the extra time to ensure that they were providing their members the safest environment possible. The staff is excited to see everyone again.
"There have been people I've seen at least five days a week for 23 years that I haven't seen for three months," fitness instructor Regina Beyer said. "I will be very excited to see them come Monday."
The facilities officially closed down on March 28th. On Monday, the wellness center in Tupelo as well as Amory, Baldwyn, Pontotoc, and West Point will be back open. Members are going to notice quite the change from what they're used to.
"When our members come back they will come to the front to get their temperature checked," Beyer said. "We will also do a short screening like: 'Have you been out of the country?' Things like that."
Workers switched up the gym equipment so they are abiding by cdc and state health guidelines.
"We have placed our equipment 12 feet apart when they're exercising," Beyer said. "We are also doing a check out system with our things like jump ropes and balls. They will just check it out through a fitness instructor and return it back so it can be cleaned properly."
Some other changes for the wellness centers include:
-No guests
-30 percent capacity
-Cardio equipment can't be used for longer than 30 minutes
-All classes are suspended
