JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - More than 17,000 people in Mississippi have received the coronavirus vaccine.
On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) announced healthcare workers in the state can receive the vaccine at several drive-thru locations next week.

So far, doses have been administered to healthcare workers and residents in long-term care facilities.

As more doses of the vaccine become available, there will be more opportunities available to receive the doses.
Even after receiving the vaccine, the public is to continue following the current COVID-19 prevention guidance.
MSDH has partnered with pharmacies at Walgreens and CVS to distribute the vaccines.
MSDH leaders hope to have the vaccine available to the general public in the spring.
