BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTVA) — The Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday night Mississippi State, Ole Miss and its other members will not allow fans at its athletic events the rest of this month because of the coronavirus.
The ban will start at the Men's Basketball Tournament Thursday. The tourney started Wednesday in Nashville with fans at Bridgestone Arena watching Ole Miss in its opening round game.
According to the SEC, only essential staff, limited family and credentialed media will be allowed at the tournament and at other games on its member campuses.
The announcement came on the same night the NBA announced it had suspended the season after one of its players tested positive for the virus.
