HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Houston School District began distributing grab and go lunches because of closures prompted by the coronavirus on Monday.
An estimated 300 meals were made at the Houston Upper Elementary School with all of them distributed throughout the city and county.
Child Nutrition Director Mary Marsh said the school district has high free and reduced lunch percentages, so providing the meals is a blessing to the families as well as the school.
Marsh said they will continue the meals the rest of the week at Houston Upper Elementary School, Woodland First Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove MB Church in Buena Vista from 11 am to 12:30 p.m.
