STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi State University (MSU) revised its 2021 spring semester calendar to end the semester earlier than originally scheduled.
Classes start on Jan. 6 and end on April 19, the university announced Wednesday.
The university revised the calendar due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
MSU will not have a spring break, though.
MSU will not hold classes on April 5, the day after Easter. The university will be closed to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 18 and Good Friday, April 2.
MSU-Meridian will hold graduation on April 29 and on the Starkville campus on April 30.
“Ending the semester a week earlier than usual hopefully will give students added time to consider enrolling in a Maymester course and summer school, and planning for co-op experiences, summer work, or making up other opportunities lost to the pandemic this past year,” said David Shaw, MSU provost and executive vice president.
